First Time Students
New students are welcome to all classes and should arrive at least 15 minutes before class.
Bikram Yoga is a series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises specifically designed for beginners. It is practiced in a room heated to 105 degrees and 40% humidity. Bikram Hot Yoga is specifically for beginners. You can literally start where you are, use what you have, do what you can and receive what you need!
If you are new to our studio, please plan on arriving 20 minutes early. The studio is located between Chipotle and Buffalo Wild Wings on the first level facing the marina. Underground parking is available. That entrance is located to the right of Ralph’s Supermarket.
Please follow the instructions given by your teacher. Bikram Yoga is taught using operational command and a vital element of the practice is learning to listen.
- Be prepared to sweat!
- Come early. No late admittance.
- Come to class hydrated.
- Allow between 1-2 hours between your meals and practice.
- Bring a yoga mat, big towel, and water. (Mats and towels can be rented. Water can be purchased at the studio.)
- Please be conscious of others: do not wear heavy perfume or cologne.
- Practice silence. Please do not talk in the yoga room before, during, or after class.
- Set yourself up in the back two rows if you are a first-time student.
- Make it your goal to stay in the room.
- Come back as soon as possible!

- and can reduce the symptoms of many chronic diseases (e.g., arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or thyroid disorders).
Tips to Help You Adjust to a Regular Yoga Practice:
- Hydrate throughout the day and not just in class! Water takes around 40 minutes to digest and absorb into your body. Drinking water at least an hour before class ensures you’ll be well hydrated during your class.
- Hydrate with water as well as electrolytes (i.e., coconut water, sea salt, and lemon). Not only does your sweat contain water, but also sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium. Be sure to replenish.
- Be patient with yourself. Yoga takes time and consistent practice to work its magic. Don’t rush to get into postures, and never give yourself a hard time about falling out.
- Commit yourself to stillness. Yes, it sounds cliché, but finding stillness in yoga class is the secret to reducing stress and anxiety and to developing focus and concentration. It also helps to keep you cool when the heat feels overbearing.
- Have fun and enjoy your class. Yoga is NOT about being flexible, being in the best shape, or holding postures for as long as you can. Yoga is about feeling great inside your body. Find yourself in the front mirror, honor your reflection, and love yourself for everything you are.
